Say hello to Hadley Homebuyer. She is our new avatar for our blog on home buying. Just look at her. She is a smart, professional, connected woman with great ideas and enthusiasm. What she doesn’t have is AN AGENT!! Why? She doesn’t need one (or so she says).
Why is Hadley starting to look for a house without an agent? Because she knows she can find everything she needs to know on the internet. She can look at photos and videos of homes, review on-line lending rates, research school districts and local taxes and even google-earth the streets where there are listings. She reads the articles about how the market has taken a nose dive and what the average loss is on homes nationwide.
She doesn’t really want to be tied down to an agent right now, anyway. If she sees an open house, she can go in without any ties to anyone and just take a look at the house. She can ask the agent at the open house to give her some inside scoop on why the house is for sale. She knows she will probably qualify for a purchase price of X and is really hoping she can get a home for about 20% less than that so she is not in too deep like some of her friends. Smart Hadley!
